OMG!!!!

Its been looooooooong time since I posted here as I was super busy and partially lazy and that's definitely not a good thing. So, the title of this post is meant for two things, one I'm posting after so long and two which made me write this post and has inspired me to get back completely here like before and that is the NEW BRAVE TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its been about an hour since I first saw the trailer and by now I've already seen it 10 times and I get goosebumps everytime I watch it. June 22nd seems like an eternity now. I wish I had a time machine more than ever.
Everything in the movie is sooo perfect. Love the animation, awesome. Characters, no words. Textures, mind blowing. Concept/Plot, fascinating and mysterious. Accent, Epic.
I'm gonna share it here and I highly recommend to watch in 1080 pixels and loud volume and I'm gonna go watch it again!
Enjoy!

Week 3 contd...

So, based on the planning of bouncing ball animation I posted on previous post, here's what I came up with

And for the other assignment, I drew sketches of poses that shows EXCITEMENT and here they are from which I selected the circled pose/pose no.19 for Stu which follows after the sketches....

Week 3

Its week 3....yay and I'm late for this post. I was busy with planning my this week's assignment. So, this week's assignment is actually there are two assignments this week or rather three, no maybe four...yeah technically four.
First off, we're supposed to draw few poses that shows EXCITEMENT, now that's a good assignment right but the problem with that is almost all the pose that I can think of for this that reads clearly are a bit of a cliche, still I', gonna try to think something different and original, so that's first assignment.
Second is to select your favourite pose from above and pose it Stu like we did last week, I really posing Stu and the feedbacks that follow.
Third is, wait I'll tell you the fourth one first, makes the third assignment easy to understand, yeah so the fourth one is a bouncing ball which has to be within 50-100 frames.
and so the third one is your planning sketch of the fourth assignment or the bouncing ball. I'm almost done with this one and I'm gonna get reviews for it in today's q&a with Chad. So, here's what I've done with planning

Although I did this in my sketchbook first but it dint look that clear when I took a picture because I have a crappy camera but I like the look of it so, I'm post it here.

Yes, the text is digitally added as you can see, its not clear at all in the picture.

So, now I'm gonna work on my first assignment so I can get reviews for that too today.
Ciao!

Its all Gobelins for this post

These guys they understand animation as an to its root. I just love their work, found these student reel from different blogs and websites. They are so creative and different with both 2D and 3D. They have defined a new style within 2D and I love that. So, here are some of their works!

Q&As

So, without question it was an awesome q&a with Chad as usual, the guy knows so much of stuff...he told us about the principles of animation, about what defines a good pose, how line of action works, how do you capture a good pose when you drawing live and so many more things.

We had two more actually three more, I couldn't attend one because it was at my 3:30am and by 2 I couldn't keep my eyes open so I had to sleep, it was a tech q&a with Kevin Freeman, I really wish I'd had attended it.
So, lets talk about the other two....

First Mike Gasaway
woah...this guy is full of energy, he moved to a new place a day before and the next day, needless to say he wasn't settled at all...and the next day he's doing a q&a with us....how awesome is that!
He talked about so many things, learned so much, got so much info, it was great!
So, we're gonna have a q&a with him next week again....can't wait!

Then it was with Kenny Roy...
I am a huge fan of his website and his book and we had a q&a with him...I was so excited. He's so inspiring and like he says it, workflow-maniac. He gave a very nice and important advice, you're not your animation, you're your workflow....makes so much sense and the analogies he used for that was great. He sure knows how to make a student understand and 100% of what he says.....he rocks!

I had to post about this....it was greattttt!!!!

Done with my week 2 assignment

I selected pose no. 20, I was really confused before about which one to select, so I tried posing Stu in couple of poses I drew and after a lot of tweaking from the wonderful feedbacks from my fellow AMers, I liked this one the best...

Week 2

So, this week's assignment which is technically first assignment as well is to do live drawing of people you see in public places and select your favourite among them and duplicate that pose on Stu....here are few of my sketches...I'll be glad to see your feedbacks and also tell me which one do you like to help me select a pose for Stu....

My wacom sketches..

So, I gotta new wacom Intuos 4 tablet around 15 days back and I haven't really used tablets before, so I wanted to start getting used to it and also I dint draw for more than year. Bingo! I started drawing on my tablet to work on both the things. I drew from already made Stu poses and pictures and few of them are also imaginary. They are supposed to be darker than this, tried changing their Levels in Photoshop but dint really work for me so I posted them as they were. I shall keep in mind to make it darker from now.  So, in between packing, shifting, unpacking and getting settled in new place, I couldn't do much but these are what I came up with...

And while I was playing around with pen and tablet.....

Awesome q&a with Shawn Kelly

So, I finally get to meet Shawn Kelly.....He's sooooooooooooooo amazing and inspiring and super cool. I can't tell you what he spoke of in the q&a because the rule is "what happens in q&a, stays in q&a".....So whatever he talked about or whatever he did or showed....only the people who attended it will know....and who din't attend it, you've missed one of best Q&As ever....you should now just wanna kill yourself since you missed it....lol

I really hope I get to meet him again very soon!

So, Finally it starts....

Yeah, I know it started yesterday but yesterday I was busy checking it out so I'm updating here today....
So, my mentor is Chad Stewart and I have 15 classmates. Its a huge diversity. Chad's great, had first q&a with him today, he's been in industry for over 19 years and animated in movies like Tarzan, Stuart Little 2, Fantasia, Open season, Polar Express and so many more. Learning from someone like him is gonna be so much fun. No assignments as such for this week, just gotta check every nook and cranny of the AM student website. I'm loving this already that I've reduced my sleep from 8 hours to 5 and planning to reduce it further and produce some good animations. So, from now I'm gonna start posting all my works in progress and finished works and try to get as much feedback as I can for them.

Anyway, gonna write again soon....

Keep Animating!!!

Ciao!

Now that's BRAVE....

Found this on Entertainment weekly....

This weekend, Disney/Pixar’s Cars 2 hits theaters, an international spy caper that looks high on whizbang fun — but before that film begins, audiences will get their first peek at the teaser trailer for Disney/Pixar’s next animated feature, Brave, due June 22, 2012. It’s Pixar Animation Studio’s first fairy tale fantasy, and it marks yet another change of pace for the venerable dream factory. “What we want to get across [with the teaser] is that this story has some darker elements,” director Mark Andrews tells EW. “Not to frighten off our Pixar fans — we’ll still have all the comedy and the great characters. But we get a little bit more intense here.”
That feeling is also apparent in the film’s first poster, which you can see in the official first look below. You may notice some mysterious stones in the background of the poster, and that’s on purpose. “Those stones are actually a pretty important set in the film,” says producer Katherine Sarafian. “We can’t say what happens there, but they were inspired by an actual location in Scotland that we visited multiple times during our research. It was a very powerful setting for the kind of things we want to have happen in the story.”

My first blog...

Hello there...

I haven't been a blog person before but after joining Animation Mentor, after seeing the enthusiasm of my fellow AMers, I was like, "Nupur , its time you have a blog of your own now". So, here I am writing my first blog post.
I'm gonna use this blog for uploading my animation work, my journey at Animation Mentor, animation facts that I discovered, interesting blogs of other animators, links to wonderful and unique reels or short films. So, first thing I'm gonna do is upload all the animation works I've done so far, its not much though. Please do comment on these videos.
